MindCanConceiveAchieve.NapoleonHill2015Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill has been a part of my ongoing personal development for many years.  I have read it too many times to count and I expect it will be with me for the rest of my life. I also have an audio recording of the book and take it with me when I go on trips or long drives. With over 60 Million copies sold worldwide, Think & Grow Rich is one of the best-selling books of all times.

Napoleon Hill was the father of the modern genre of personal-success literature. The text of Think and Grow Rich is founded on Hill’s earlier work The Law of Success, the result of more than twenty years of research based on Hill’s close association with a large number of individuals who achieved great wealth during their lifetimes.

While the book’s title implies that it deals with how to attain monetary wealth, Hill’s aim was not only to enable people to get rich. Hill’s main intention was to examine the power of personal beliefs and the role they play in personal success. Napoleon Hill wanted to identify how achievement of any kind actually occurs and how to derive a formula of success that could be applied by the average person.

It is noted in the book that an individual with desire, faith and persistence can reach great heights by eliminating negative energy and thoughts and focusing on the greater goals at hand.

    Hi Deanna,
You did an excellent post. I like that you write that Napoleon Hill did
not mean only to enable people to get rich, most people think by “rich”
only about money, but money alone does not make rich. I saw people in
my life with a lot of money, but a poor life. It is really our beliefs and our
thinking which matter for a successful life. It is not the running after money
which makes rich, our riches come from our inside. “Know thyself”
.”If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self,he said.
And in the Upanishads:”Enquiry into the truth of the Self is knowledge.”
I like the number 8.Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul, the blueprints of your ultimate achievements.
and number 20. , the number 22 I already mentioned.
Thank you, Deanna, very nice job
    Erika

Thanks for your kind words Erika. I agree with you 100%. Money alone does not make one rich. I know many rich people with a poor life. I love number 8 as well. It’s almost poetic, don’t you think? I am thinking it needs to be made into a graphic design quote too…hmmm…

What an excellent compilation of quotes! Some of them I didn’t even realize originated with Napoleon Hill. My favorite line is “For the wise know the truth; in helping others we help ourselves; and in hurting others we hurt ourselves,” which goes along with #6. So much richness in all these quotes, thanks for the inspiration!

It is interesting to note how much influence Napoleon Hill has had through the years. Many of the quotes have been adopted and adapted by several of our current personal development coaches and mentors. Another person that I believe was the “Mother of Personal-Success Literature” was Florence Scovel Shinn. She wrote many books on personal development and the law of attraction around the same time Napoleon Hill was researching and writing his books – the early part of the nineteenth century. I believe books like The Secret, The Power of Positive Thinking, Unleash the Giant Within and others were inspired by these two brilliant teachers. In fact going back even further, Quote #6 is a variation of the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Yes Della, all great quotes for sure. Number 8 really seems to be calling out to me lately. It is one I had not paid attention to until I wrote this blog post. I guess it is time to design a graphic for it after all…
